This city gets me every time. It's never less magical or exciting than the time before. Highlights included seeing Fleet Foxes perform at the Williamsburg Waterfront in Brooklyn, checking out the new addition on the Highline, picnic in Central Park, dinner at The National, a quick trip to Connecticut, and time spent with my favorites. I turned the ripe age of 23 last week and it was the best birthday yet. My parents hosted a BBQ in their backyard complete with their famous ribs, banana cake, and American decor. Jan + Bill brought a brand new puppy for everyone to play with and little brother Cole had his bandmate play us a few jams. It was quite the perfect summer evening. We went boating the next day and then celebrated the 4th all weekend long. I think I might be the luckiest 23 year old around, even if I didn't get to keep the puppy.

Thank you dear friends for making the trek up North!

Back in April, the whole family made the treck to NYC to watch Kelsey film Season 2 of Kelsey's Essentials. I took this little video on my Iphone using the 8mm App. Brother Robby helped us edit and find the perfect song. Watching her film is as surreal and cool as it sounds. Did you know that people on television get separate people to be in charge of every little detail? Hair girl, makeup girl, wardrobe girl, diet dr. pepper supplier girl, dish washer, food prepper, art director, production assistant, photographer, food stylist, producer 1, producer 2, camera men 1,2,3,4,5,6,7.... I'm sure I'm forgetting someone.

The best part? Seeing how much everyone LOVED working with Kelsey (of course they did). Everyone was extremely nice and worked hard to get the show on the road. Seeing how far she has come has been so incredible. I'm very proud and lucky to have her as a sister/best friend/life consultant/commute phone chatter. Plus, because of her... I'm not the shortest one in the family. Major bonus. Can't wait to see where this career takes her!

I think her new website designed by Oh Joy! is the best thing on the Internet. You should probably follow it and try out all of her amazing recipes.

Last week we went to New York. I knew it would be a great trip and it absolutely delivered. Gorgeous weather, familiar delicious food, family, and I even got to see a few city friends! For the record, Mom + Dad were there too. I don't know how they sneaked out of the photos...

For records sake, this trip included:
-Watching Kelsey film Season 2 of Kelsey's Essentials, meeting her crew, watching her work magic behind the camera. So fun.
-Eating at Brooklyn's finest BBQ joint Feta Sau with cousin Braden
-Church on the Upper East Side (i love it up there) on Easter Sunday
-Dining at Market Table in the village and having HARRY POTTER two tables away (i'm not lying)
-Walking through the village and falling in love with Grove Street area
-Relaxing/playing catch in Central Park
-Roaming Chelsea Market and laying in the sun at the Highline Park
-Max Brenner for dessert one night (couldn't resist the Eighties Milkshake)
-Brunching at Norma's (my first time and I would absolutely recommend it!)
-Visiting the new London Candy Shoppe on the UES and overdosing on the chocolate I used to eat on my study abroad (double decker bars anyone?)
-Eating at The Meatball Shoppe and loving it even more than last time

Apparently I haven't had enough... I'll be back next week for work (we'll be here and I'm thrilled!)

It's official: my little brother is way cooler than I ever was in high school. Way to go bud. Kelsey and I both agree that he is the favorite child and are totally ok with that. Well deserved. His band 'Tribes' played in a competition on Friday, so some friends and I went up for a night of Tribes, high-schoolers, and bread pudding (thanks Mom).

They won the competition and are advancing to the next round. Proud sister moment? Yep.

One of my photos from Sarah + Harry's wedding is published in The Knot's Ultimate Wedding Lookbook! I have no idea how they found me, but I think it's pretty neat. I can't wait to get mine and see it in real-life. I think this victory can be attributed to the fact that Sarah + Harry were a dream to work with. SO, if you ever get your hands on one of these books, flip to page 117 and look at my photo (it's in the bottom right corner with the yellow dresses and flowers).

I can't get enough of Kate Spade lately. The branding, the art direction, the colors, the clothes... It's all out of this world (and out of my budget, too but there's nothing wrong with looking, right?) Kate has been popping up all over the www and all of this exposure reminded me of a time I visited the Kate Spade store in Washington DC last summer. I saw this quote plastered on the wall in the store and loved it. I pulled out my travel journal and wrote it down in fear of forgetting about it. Almost a year later, I finally made it look pretty in illustrator and now it will proudly hang on my wall. Thank you Kate!

Since August, I've been quite the crafty lady. I work at Lifestyle Crafts, a company that makes a DIY Letterpress and cutting dies. These are a few images I've shot for our catalog and new website- it's been fun to use my photo skills at work, even though I know next to nothing about shooting and styling product. We're off to LA for a week to go to CHA, a trade show for crafty people. Wish me luck with all the craftiness... I hope I don't overdose.

to say i go way back with this girl is an understatement. in 7th grade, her locker was next to mine and the rest is history. we went through jr. high and high school together, lived together for two years of college, and still eat at cafe rio together once a week. is she not the most stunning bride you've ever seen? love her. i helped shoot the wedding with her talented sister (who also made the dress... amazing) and have a lot more images to sort through and will post later, but i couldn't resist throwing these out on the www for all to see.

When I started working, I inherited some really fantastic co-workers. Really, they might be some of the most talented (and hilarious) people I know. They asked me to design the invite for a Madeline/French-themed baby shower they were throwing. Yes please! All the details are kind of amazing, right? The old buggy? The mustaches? The photo booth? we went to an exhibit on saturday of the artist who did this famous obama poster. you can't really tell by my iphone pictures, but his work is amazing. i was obsessed with the typography and texture and color. go shepard! things like this make living in new york so cool.

this post is completely opposite of what life in new york is like, but we had a fun little getaway up to westpoint military academy. elder holland was speaking and we couldn't resist. we rented a car (no, i did not drive in the city. that would be the worst idea of 2010, next to wandering through harlem past midnight by myself) and drove about an hour north. the campus is gorgeous, so green, and we felt like we were harry potter characters. i literally had 2 minutes to take pictures, so maybe i'll have to venture up again for more time. awesome day.

well, i officially graduated from good ole brigham young university. to be honest, i never thought i would go to college at byu and it took some legitimate bribery from my sister... but i am so glad i caved. i couldn't imagine a better place. i mean, come on! how can you resist all those quirky students, knee shorts, and religion jokes? yes, the stories you hear about the crazy kids are true, and i love them. those encounters made campus such a treat. what you don't hear about are how amazing the people are, how motivated and driven they are, and how incredible the professors are. i'm amazed by how much they really do care about me as an individual. i've never been pushed so hard and so intimidated by all the accomplishments happening around me. the friends i've made in provo i plan on keeping close no matter where i end up. and yes, i'll always be cheering for the cougars (wow, i never thought i would say that).

long live the honor code, awkward dating stories, and running into people you went to EFY with.

and yes, the first thing i did post-graduation? duh. diet dr peppers from our favorite gas station, crest on 9th. the ladies know us there. it was good to have the sister there to participate in one of what we consider provo's greatest gems.

well folks, it's official... i'll be spending my summer days on third avenue this year. mccann erickson new york here i come! this agency is amazing with clients that i am excited about. my flight has been purchased and the housing is ready to roll. now all i have to do is wait to gradu8. 2 more months and a college grad i'll be. i've never felt so much excitement and pure terror at the same time. cheers to adulthood... it's creepin' up on me.

some great friends who are residents of huntington beach wanted some photos of their city to hang in their house on the beach. we got them printed on large canvas' and from what i hear, they turned out great. it was a fun project for me and pulling these out of the archives from last summer reminded me of how great it is to live there. i sure do miss having the beach 3 blocks from home. see the rest here.

the great thing about being an advertising major is that you get to do extremely random things, like hang out with a horse for an afternoon to shoot a tv commercial. this event was quite hilarious to us, but mostly because we had all just watched this old spice commercial. take a minute to watch... it's hilarious.

i have a feeling my quality of life will drastically decrease once i have a real job and have to sit in a cubical all day. maybe our killer idea for this commercial will make it big time and i can just live off the royalties the rest of my life.

a few weeks ago i got to go back to california to shoot a really great wedding. i don't know how i've lucked out with the few weddings i've shot, but i've gotten to work with the greatest people. so relaxed and refreshing. see the photos here, and meredith's dress is one of my favorites i've ever seen (and her mom made it... amazing). plus, i can appreciate a girl who enjoys a good diet soda and ponytail on her wedding day.

i must admit, this spot done by google for the superbowl is pretty great. great strategy. you see, it's fair to say that google is a large part of my life. i am google chatting with friends, family, and colleagues all day. also, google reader and gmail are genius (if you don't have gmail, switch now... and yes, i'm talking to you mom & dad!) in a way, technology seems to be getting out of hand, but at the same time i love it that i can hop online and chat with my sister during a painfully boring lecture or meeting. all hail google!

we were given the assignment to take pictures of nice typography around provo and this is what i came up with (and the color scheme was totally unintentional- what a pleasant surprise!) i love my classes, enough said.
